Memories of Tables Past
Each year for Thanksgiving, my grandparents would create the coziest feast. Ever prepared, they made parts of the meal in advance.
I have the fondest memories of their tried-and-true method for reheating: platters of food covered in crisp lettuce leaves, allowing the steam to build beneath a dome of iceberg. It kept everything warm and tender. This clever little wives’ tale somehow worked every time!
To this day, I eat off their wedding china, which I keep in my home as a quiet tradition that brings me back to their table every year.
